During lent we remember the life of Christ and the trials that he faced. The peaceful image of the head stone surrounded by overgrowth reminds me of our mortality and also of Christ's death. His death on the cross was not the end, but only the beginning. The separation is no longer, and we can come before him in worship knowing that our sins are forgiven. In our own mortality, death is not devastating but rather finally coming into the glory of God. The headstone is a marker of where we have been but not of our home. The head stone represents the feelings of sorrow but also of hope.
