Children's Ministry Newsletter

Hello HTAC families and Friends!

Jonathon Thigpen here, posting a quick newsletter to get the word out on some coming events and some important changes to our summer plans for TCT and vacation Bible school. It’s going to be a full summer!

First, we are hosting a kids’ craft party on Friday, June 22nd from 5:00-7:30 at the church! We will be making decorations for VBS, playing some games, and eating dinner. Parents are welcome to come and participate but are also free to drop their kids off and have a date!

Second, if you haven’t heard, Michele Moore is hosting family days at the park through the summer! Bring the kids and join in on the fun every Wednesday at Fox Run Regional Park from 11:30 to 2;30! These events can be a great outreach to invite friends and introduce them to the HTAC family!

Third, we are moving the location for VBS!  In light of the extensive electrical and HVAC work during the building expansion, we have determined that the premises will not be safe for our kiddos during the week of VBS.

Wings Like Eagles ranch has graciously offered to host our VBS this year!  Wings Like Eagles has been operating for 30 years as a wonderful Christian horse camp for kids. They are located on the West side of Baptist road at 15050 Woodcarver Rd, Monument, 80132.

At the new location, VBS will be held outdoors, so if your kids are attending, please make sure they are prepared (hats, sunscreen, water bottles are advised). Be aware, as well, that there are horses, dogs, and other animals on site, in case allergies are a problem. The dates and times are not changing, so we will still be having VBS on Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 20th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

We have our first VBS volunteer training session this Sunday, June 24th directly after church. Please join us if you are planning on volunteering for VBS, as we will be covering important information regarding our new location.

Finally, we are making an important change to our summer planning for TCT classes at the church.  There will be no TCT for adults, youth, or children for the remainder of the summer. We will be using this time to reexamine and retool our TCT activities and are planning to resume our Sunday classes on August 19.

We covet your prayers for our children’s programs at HTAC.  Resources and volunteers are always needed.  We do not yet have a full complement of volunteers for Shipwrecked VBS!  Our program this year is even bigger than last year’s (40 kids registered so far!), and as a result, we need more hands on deck!  If you have any time available, please connect with me.  You do not need to volunteer for all 5 days to participate, even one day of help is a blessing.

We also need volunteers to teach Children’s Church and to help with our TCT classes when they return in the fall. These are powerful ministries, and the kids love them.  If you would like to be a part of what the Lord is doing in the lives of our kids on Sunday mornings, please join in!

Please be praying for our staff, volunteers and kids as we navigate the change of location for VBS. Pray for smooth transitions and set up, for more volunteers, for safety for the kids, and for lives to be changed by the power of the Gospel.

Thank you!

In the service of the King,
Jonathon Thigpen
