Children's Ministry Newsletter

Hello HTAC families!

It was a great 2017 for our kids’ ministry and it’s been an honor to get to serve you all as your children’s minister this year! I just wanted to give a quick year in review, as well as a note on some of what to look forward to for 2018. The following are a smattering of highlights from our children’s ministry in 2017.

  • On Easter Sunday we celebrated the day with our yearly easter egg hunt, but with a big twist! The kids got to hunt for special dinosaur eggs, which was a blast!

  • Our big highlight of the summer came in the form of the long-awaited Vacation Bible School!  We had 35 kids come throughout the week, and 30 amazing volunteers! Through VBS not only our kids, but also some kids from the local community, were reached with the Gospel, enabled to build relationships, and had an incredible week!

  • Skipping ahead to November, we had a blast watching ‘Ratatouille’, playing games, and chowing down on pizza for our kids night at the church / parents’ free date night!

  • We kicked off Advent with a bang with our Hanging of the Greens party! Complete with Christmas carols, delicious food, and our cookie decorating bonanza, we sure started the season off with a bundle of laughs and smiles!

For 2018 we are reevaluating our regular programs (Kids’ TCT, Children’s Church) in order to determine whether they are the best way to continue discipling our children moving forward. We may well keep Children’s Church and TCT as they are, but we are also looking at changes in style or curriculum, or different programs altogether. We are also looking to add a catechism component to our children’s ministries, and for our church at large, as a way of engaging families and equipping them for discipleship. Regardless of which direction we take our Sunday children’s programs in 2018, parental input and observations are welcome and encouraged in this process as we move forward and all our decisions will be made in an attempt to best love and serve our HTAC families.

We will be having VBS again this year on July 16th - 20th! More information for volunteers will be put out in the next few months. Lord-willing it will be one of our best yet! In addition, we will be putting on more family and children’s events throughout the summer and the rest of the year as well. In February we will have another kids movie night at the church, so be looking for more information on that in the next couple weeks! We are also looking to find ways to encourage parents to connect with each other for encouragement and support through park days, family game nights, and other fun events. We would also love to hear from you all for ideas and needs on this as we launch into 2018!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season and are starting off your new year strong!
