THE DETAILS:

TIME CHANGE - NEW FRIDAY EVENING SERVICE: Our first Friday evening service was awesome! Thank you to all who joined us and especially to Pastor Chris and Amy Stroup who organized the service and led us in worship. One big change this week: To make it easier for families to get from work to home and then to the Church on Friday evening, we're pushing the start time back by 30 minutes. We will now begin at 6:30 PM. Pastor Chris Stroup will be preaching again this Friday. Reservations are not required at this time, so please come join us for this powerful end to your work week.

Confirmations and Bishop Ken: We will be hosting our Bishop, Ken Ross, on Sunday, April 25 for our 10 AM service. The service will include confirmations by the Bishop, and he will deliver the Sunday sermon. If you are interested in confirmation or in a reaffirmation of your faith, please contact Pastor Matt or the Church Office right away.

Rwandan Genocide Remembrance: Please be in prayer for our brothers and sisters in Rwanda. This week is Genocide Remembrance week in Rwanda. Bishop Emmanuel reports that this year is particularly difficult for the Rwandan people because of COVID and the lockdowns in the country. The pandemic is isolating people during a time when they need community more than ever. Please pray for God's comfort and covering.

Thursday Spotlight: 8 April 2021

Friday Evening Communion Service

Don't forget that we have a new weekly service starting TOMORROW, April 9.

Our Friday evening service will begin at 6 PM. The service will include God's Word, special music, the beloved Kenyan liturgy, and a sermon by Pastor Chris Stroup. Pastor Matt will lead us at the Lord's Table.

Please join us! There are plenty of seats available for the service, and reservations are not required. If you have questions, please contact the Church Office.

2021 Walk for Life - June 6, 2021

The Walk for Life is back for 2021, and this year, it won't be completely virtual.

Walkers can choose to participate at Memorial Park in person or walk in their own neighborhoods. Holy Trinity's efforts to support this important life-affirming ministry will be coordinated by Lara Stata.

THE DETAILS:

NEW FRIDAY EVENING SERVICE: We are so excited about the launch this week of our Friday Evening Worship Service. We will begin at 6 PM on April 9, and Pastor Chris Stroup will deliver the inaugural sermon for this new service. Although we will still be doing socially distanced seating (and masks) for this service, reservations are not required at this time. Please come join us; this will be a powerful way to end to your work week.

SUNDAY SPECIAL GUESTS: As part of our ongoing efforts in partnership with the clergy and congregation at IAC to pursue a new church plant in the Colorado Springs area, we are looking forward to a visit this Sunday to Holy Trinity by a finalist clergy candidate for the church plant. Eric Chesney and his wife and the youngest of their five children will be here to get to know us better. Eric is coming from Ohio and brings an impressive set of pastoral and ministry experiences.

Thursday Spotlight: 1 April 2021

It's Holy Week! We encourage everyone to make some space this week to reflect on the immensity of the work done by God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - for our salvation and the redemption of the world.

Here are the Holy Week services still to happen:

Maundy Thursday - 1 April - 6:30 PM - This service commemorates the Last Supper and Jesus' washing of the disciples' feet. The sermon will be preached by Deacon Mark Summers. Reservations are not required for this service. You can attend on site or via Zoom.

Last Words of Jesus - Friday, 2 April - Noon to 3 PM - This service contemplates the final words of Jesus spoken from the Cross. The meditations will be facilitated by Pastor Matt, Pastor Al, Pastor Chris and Deacon Mark. We will have special music by Jim Strub, Terri Moon and Amy Stroup. Reservations are not required for this service, and you are encouraged to drop in for all or just a portion of the service. You can attend on site or via Zoom.

Good Friday Service - 2 April - 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM - Our traditional Good Friday service, marking the death of Jesus on the Cross, will be held in two sessions. These services will be a joint effort with our brothers and sisters at Cathedral Rock Church. This is our 8th year of partnering with Cathedral Rock on this service. You can attend on site or via Zoom; however, reservations are required. The 6 PM service is full; the 8 PM service has quite a few seats still available.

Easter Morning Service - Sunday, 4 April - 8 AM and 10 AM - We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with the traditional Anglican Easter liturgy and worship service, Both services are now full. If you don't have a reservation, we encourage you to join us via Zoom for the online celebration.

We need volunteers to pull this service together: help with sound and slides; readers for the Scripture readings and the Prayers of the People, help with seating charts and seat tags. If you are planning to attend the Friday evenning services and would like to help, please reach out to the Church Office or to Pastor Chris.

WALK FOR LIFE: The annual Walk for Life to support unborn children and services for pregnant women is coming on Saturday, June 5th. One of the major local sponsors for this year's walk, Life Network, is looking for a coordinator to help with communications and information sharing and signups here at Holy Trinity.

If you are interested in being Holy Trinity's Walk Ambassador, coordinating interactions between our church and the Walk for Life organizers, please let us know. You can contact the Church Office or reach out to Pastor Matt.

SEATING FOR HOLY WEEK: Finally, here's the latest on seats in the Sanctuary for Holy Week.

  • No reservations are needed for "Stations of the Cross" on Wednesday, "Maundy Thursday Service" on Thursday, or the "Last Words of Jesus" service on Friday. Just come, and we'll have seats for you.

  • The 6 PM Good Friday evening service is full.

  • The 8 PM Good Friday evening service still has seats available. If you'd like a reservation, please contact the Church Office.

  • Both morning services (8 AM and 10 AM) on Easter Sunday are full. If you want to be on the waiting list for a seat (or for a third service, if we pull one together), please contact the Church Office.

New Private Group on Facebook

We are currently setting up a private group in Facebook for members of our Church community. This private group will give us a reliable platform within Facebook to pass along news and developments, and our postings here won't be captive to the regular Facebook algorithms applied to your news feeds.

We are inviting our congregation members as we run across them, but if you'd like to be a part of this private Facebook group, search for Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Colorado Springs in the groups and request to join.

Meeting Needs in our Community

We have just three more weeks to collect items for the Tri Lakes Cares food drive.

What would it look like to be staggeringly generous? Bring what you can - food items, canned goods, pantry staples - to the Church and put them in boxes in the lobby. Or on the floor, if the boxes are full. Let's stagger and stupefy the folks at Tri Lakes Cares with our giving!

On the horizon: Backpack Bash and Walk for Life

The COSILoveYou annual Backpack Bash for kids starting school is being planned, and we're intending to "go big" this year in our commitment to serve our children.

Planning is also beginning for this year's Walk for Life, which is being coordinated, in part, by our ministry partners at Life Network.

LENTEN FOOD DRIVE: Response to the food drive has been great so far, but let's keep up the great work. We've got two more weeks to make the donation to Tri Lakes Cares amazing! Let's finish strong in our season-long food drive in partnership with Tri Lakes Cares for those in need. We have placed a large box in the Church lobby, and we will be taking donations of food items – canned goods and staples for feeding families in need – to Tri Lakes Cares on a weekly basis. Please bring in items that will help with this need!

NEW FRIDAY EVENING SERVICE: Mark your calendars and open up your Friday evenings for the new Communion service that begins on Friday, April 9 and runs weekly through 21 May. This new Friday night worship service will feel a bit more modern and casual; however, you'll definitely know that you are worshipping at an Anglican service and at Holy Trinity. Come check it out!

Thursday Spotlight: 11 March 2021

Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend! Don't forget to turn your clocks AHEAD one hour on Saturday night.

This weekend marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time for 2021. Overnight on Saturday into Sunday, clocks throughout the US will "spring forward" one hour. If you rely on a clock that must be set manually - on the microwave, in your car, on your windup alarm - don't forget to adjust the time.

Snow closures likely for the Weekend

Yes, the flock will be in the snow this weekend. How much snow? We don't know. But right now, the forecast would suggest that we all should stay home and enjoy the Holy Trinity Communion service and the preaching of Rev. White on our computers. We are planning, at this point, for the service to be ALL REMOTE via Zoom. If the weather plays out as expected, there will be no onsite service at the Church building on Sunday. We will make the final call on this as we get closer to the weekend.

Look for an email on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. If you don't see an email, check the Holy Trinity website HERE or check out our Holy Trinity Facebook page. The Facebook page link is at the bottom of this email. Stay safe and stay warm. Winter isn't done quite yet.

Something Special for LENT! A Contemplation of J.S. Bach's Masterpiece - "St. John Passion"

Starting this Sunday evening, Terri Moon will lead us in a wonderful musical experience. We will follow the story of Jesus’ passion as told in the Gospel of John but through the music of J.S. Bach. Join us for the next two Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM, as we set aside some time to meditate on Christ’s sacrifice through an encounter with Bach's beautiful music.

Sunday Guest Preacher: Rev. Leslie White

Don't miss Rev. White's sermon on Sunday!
Pastor Matt has been blessed to become friends with the Pastor and Congregation at Payne Chapel AME Church in Colorado Springs. Payne Chapel has been serving the Colorado Springs community since 1872. That's 149 years! Payne Chapel was the very first Christian Community for persons of color established in Colorado Springs, when Colorado was just a territory and not a state of the Union.

Rev. White has been the senior pastor at Payne Chapel AME since 2019, and he brings an amazing history - nearly 50 years - of pastoring, preaching and church planting that has stretched literally from coast to coast in our country. This Sunday, March 14, Rev. White will be our guest to deliver the sermon via Zoom at our regular 10 AM Communion service.

SUNDAY SERMON WITH REV. LESLIE WHITE: Rev. White will be preaching this Sunday via Zoom. Rev. White is the senior pastor of Payne Chapel AME Church in Colorado Springs. He brings an amazing history - nearly 50 years - of pastoring, preaching and church planting to his message. Don't miss this!

LENTEN FOOD DRIVE: Focusing in on our Lenten call for almsgiving, we want to continue to emphasize our season-long food drive in partnership with Tri Lakes Cares for those in need. We have placed a large box in the Church lobby, and we will be taking donations of food items – canned goods and staples for feeding families in need – to Tri Lakes Cares on a weekly basis. Please bring in items that will help with this need!

HOLY WEEK: You don't want to miss the amazing worship opportunities offered during Holy Week, March 30 - April 3. Steeped in the richness of the Anglican traditions, these services will prepare your heart well for the celebration of Jesus' resurrection on Easter morning. On Wednesday, we offer the Stations of the Cross service, an imaginative journey with Jesus to the Cross. The Maundy Thursday service commemorates the last supper and Jesus' example of footwashing for his disciples. On Good Friday, we have two distinct services: a noontime service on the last words of Christ, and of course, the Good Friday evening service. Finally, on Easter Sunday, we will offer services at 8 AM and 10 AM. In addition, if there is enough interest, we will hold an Easter Sunrise Service beginning at 5:30 AM.

Oh, do we have a special Sunday treat for Holy Trinity!

Pastor Matt has been blessed to become friends with the Pastor and Congregation at Payne Chapel AME Church in Colorado Springs. Payne Chapel has been serving the Colorado Springs community since 1872. That's 149 years! Payne Chapel was the very first Christian Community for persons of color established in Colorado Springs, when Colorado was just a territory and not a state of the Union.

The Payne Chapel website announces a mission and purpose we all share: "to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through witnessing and service."

Rev. White has been the senior pastor at Payne Chapel AME since 2019, and he brings an amazing history - nearly 50 years - of pastoring, preaching and church planting that has stretched literally from coast to coast in our country. 

On Sunday, March 14, Rev. White will be our guest to deliver the sermon via Zoom at our regular 10 AM Communion service. You do not want to miss this message.

Something Special for LENT! 

A Contemplation of J.S. Bach's Masterpiece - "St. John Passion"

This year for Lent, Terri Moon will lead us in a wonderful musical experience.

We will follow the story of Jesus’ passion as told in the Gospel of John but through the music of J.S. Bach.

Did you know that Bach set the passion story to music, making the drama come alive in his famous “St. John Passion”?

Join us for two weeks at 6:30 on Sunday evening, as we take time to meditate on Christ’s sacrifice through an encounter with Bach's beautiful music.

TLC Food Drive Continues

Our big food drive for ministry partner, Tri Lakes Cares is still ongoing!

We are taking donations of food items – canned goods and staples for feeding families in need – through the 5 weeks of Lent to support the food pantry at Tri Lakes Cares.

We had a good start this week, but there's still so much need to address. Please drop your donations in the big box in the Church Lobby. 

We want to encourage families to get the kids involved in this Lenten project! This is a great, real-world opportunity to talk in concrete ways about concepts like generosity, sacrifice, and responding to the needs of those who cannot help themselves.

Food Drive for LENT

The call for almsgiving is one of the core themes of Lent. This year, we embrace the call with a big food drive for our ministry partner, Tri Lakes Cares!

Holy Trinity has a history of faithful and generous contributions to the food pantry at Tri Lakes Cares. Our contributions over the years have often exceeded 200 pounds of groceries per month, month after month.

During COVID, however, with the limitations on in-person attendance and reduced traffic at the Church, our food donations to TLC have dropped dramatically. Yet the need among the TLC clientele has grown.

We are launching a season-long food drive for the TLC food pantry. We will be taking donations of food items – canned goods and staples for feeding families in need – through the 5 weeks of Lent. Get the kids involved! Make this a family project!

Please bring your food donations (that do not require refrigeration) to the Church and place them in the big box in the Lobby. You can drop them off any time during the week or on Sundays.

How To See Like A Saint

You don't want to miss this fascinating discipleship class taught by Brian Brown.The class is offered via Zoom on Sunday mornings in Lent. Every week, Brian will be offering a teaching on the stories of saints within the great story of God. There is plenty of opportunity for discussion and conversation after each lesson. Please join us!

EASTER SUNDAY: We are almost full for Easter Sunday – the 10 AM service. We are exploring the possibility of adding two additional service on Easter morning. First, we will have a Sunrise service, beginning at 5:30 AM. This service will end just as sunrise occurs, ushering in a special celebration of the resurrection of Jesus on that first Easter after the crucifixion. We will then offer an early Easter Communion service at 8 AM, followed by our later Easter service at 10 AM.We are asking everyone to give us their preferred service for Easter morning, so we can gauge the level of interest for each of the planned services.If we have insufficient interest to support either of the earlier services, we’ll adjust accordingly, and of course, keep everyone informed of changes to the planned schedule.
