NEWCOMERS LUNCH

We are hosting a Newcomers Lunch on Sunday, November 7, after the second service. If you are a visitor, new attender, or anyone who wants a chance to visit with Pastor Matt and other clergy, staff, and leaders to learn about Holy Trinity, our Newcomers Lunches are a great way to do it!

The Newcomers Lunch is relaxed and informal. Over lunch, the conversation is Q&A-driven, and we talk and answer questions to give you an opportunity to learn more about who we are and what we do here at Holy Trinity.

If you would like to attend a Newcomers Lunch, please let the Church Office know, so we can put you on our list and make sure we have a lunch ordered for you.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

The shoeboxes have arrived! Children around the world are beginning to think about Christmas. Samaritan's Purse is setting up collection stations and coordinating shipping containers and delivery vehicles.

It's time for the 2021 edition of Operation Christmas Child!

We are praying for an extravagant response this year from our Holy Trinity family for the children who will be blessed with gift shoeboxes at Christmas time. The collection week is approaching quickly: November 15 to 22. The OCC display is setup and waiting for you in the Holy Trinity Fellowship Hall with plenty of paper and plastic shoeboxes to be filled.

Each gift box will be tagged for a specific age group and gender, and suggested gifts for each child group are listed on the sheets at THIS LINK. Find the list for your particular target child, and then go shopping!!

There is a ton of additional information available regarding Operation Christmas Child and the process for creating a gift shoebox on the OCC website at this OCC LINK.

In addition, check out the great video promotion produced by Samaritan's Purse for the 2021 Operation Christmas Child program at THIS VIDEO LINK.

Our OCC program is being coordinated again this year by Ashley Carlson. If you have questions, please reach out to Ashley or contact the Church Office.

Let's be powerful Kingdom Influencers this Christmas by blessing children who need the impact of Jesus and His Church in their lives.

2022 PLEDGE CARDS

As Pastor Matt explained on Sunday, we are asking everyone to help us with budgeting for 2022 by submitting a pledge card for your giving in the new year.

Our goal to establish a responsible and realistic budget for 2022 depends on reliable projections of our income, and those projections are uniquely difficult this year, in the wake of the pandemic and changes within our Church family.

You can help us by submitting either an electronic pledge card at THIS LINK, or by filling out a paper pledge card (available in the Church lobby).

Please submit your pledge, whether paper or electronic, by November 15, so we can complete our work on the 2022 budget.

SINGLE SERVICE ON OCTOBER 31

This coming Sunday, October 31, is the 5th Sunday in the month, and we're resurrecting our old practice of having a single service with a congregation-wide potluck brunch afterwards.

The SINGLE SERVICE will begin at 9:30 AM.

The potluck brunch will follow immediately after the service. There will be no assigned food-bringers for Sunday; instead, we invite everyone to bring something "brunchy" to share.

Contrary to our previous notice regarding this coming Sunday, there WILL be Children's Catechesis/Discipleship during the single service.

If you have any questions, please contact the Church Office.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOVEMBER FIRST FRIDAY EVENING SERVICE

Our second monthly FIRST FRIDAY service is just around the corner. We'll be meeting on Friday, November 5 at 6 PM in the Sanctuary for a special evening of prayer and worship.

This evening service will include some wonderful praise songs and extended times of prayer, all wrapped in an Evening Prayer liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer. Please join us!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOVEMBER BAPTISMS

Our first two Sundays in November will be specially blessed with baptisms!

On Sunday, November 7, we will baptize Renee Traylor during the early service, and on Sunday, November 14, we will baptize Korbin Stone during the second service.

These are powerful, wonderful events, not only in the lives of these youngsters and their families, but in the life of the Church family, as we witness and covenant to support these little ones in their life in Christ.

KIDS CHOIR REHEARSALS

Here's some exciting news from Terri Moon, our choir leader:

Calling all children in the elementary grades who would like to participate in a children’s choir! We are meeting on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 pm in the Holy Trinity Sanctuary, starting this week, October 20. Our goal is to worship together, learn to sing, begin to read music, and prepare a special piece of music to present for worship sometime in Advent.

If your child is interested in participating, just come on Wednesday, or you can contact Terri at musicalmoons@gmail.com. We know this is relatively short notice, so if someone would like to participate but can’t come this week, they are still welcome!

If you have questions, contact Terri or the Church Office.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Again this year, HTAC will join other churches throughout the United States in the Operation Christmas Child program, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse. OCC invites individuals, groups and communities to assemble gift shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and life needs for children around the world. Each gift shoebox is age and gender specific and will be distributed by OCC to children worldwide in a massive annual undertaking.

Our OCC program is coordinated again this year by Ashley Carlson; however, she cannot do it alone. If you are interested in assisting Ashley with logistics and support, please let her or the Church Office know.

It may seem early to be talking about a Christmas program, but now is the time to gather items and supplies for the giftboxes. Sales for school supplies currently abound, so take advantage of them!

The OCC collection dates for finished shoeboxes will be November 15 - 22. Keep an eye out for the OCC display and information center in the Fellowship Hall in the coming weeks. More details will be coming.

HEALING JOURNEY

Please don't forget to register for Healing Journey, taking place November 5 & 6, at Wellspring Englewood: http://rockymountainanglican.org/healingjourney/.

Speakers this year will be Bishop Ken Ross, Lisa Elmers, Dr. Douglas Groothuis, Nick Hamilton, Cindy Hamilton, and Sean McKelvey.

We will worship the Lord in song, trust the Holy Spirit to move in us through the stories and talks shared, and yield to his healing power through prayer and prayer ministry. We invite you, as Jesus does, to 'Come and See.'

This event is for everyone, as everyone is in need of Jesus' healing. We do not want the cost of Healing Journey to keep people away; therefore, we are offering a few full scholarships and have many partial scholarships available.

If a scholarship would make the difference for you to be able to attend, please reach out to the Church Office.

Thursday Spotlight: 14 October 2021

We received the following email from Bishop Emmanuel NTAZINDA in Rwanda:

Greetings and praise Him!

Thanks for your continuing prayers and provision that enabled us to put up the following washing stations, connecting water, and buying water tanks to areas without water. We really appreciated so much, and we are glad to let you know that 75% of these churches were reopened in three weeks back, and we have hope others also to be reopened soon.

Bless you, and extend our sincere thanks for the church members that provided this support,

And here is the content of the letter that was attached to Bishop Emmanuel's email:

INTRODUCTION

Dear brethren from Holy trinity,

We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

We would like to thank you for standing with us during difficulty of Covid -19. Most of the time building anything at our church level , we do communal work. So it was so difficulty to do anything without going to church. Your support enabled us to put up the washing stations, connecting water, where there is water pipeline, and buying water tanks to collect train water from the church buildings to areas that have no water connection line.

Below is the hand washing stations build on churches and all re opened:

NEW PLAYGROUND SET - SEALING THE WOOD

Dick Battersby, our Facilities Team Leader, needs about 5 people to help him apply a coat of sealer to our new playground set on Saturday, October 23, between 9 AM and Noon. STANDING INVITATIONS: THURSDAY and FRIDAY MORNINGS

We have two outstanding mid-week fellowship/discipleship groups that meet at the Church.

The Ladies Bible Study meets on Thursday mornings at 9 AM in the adult classroom. This group is open to all and is currently working their way through a video teaching series by N.T. Wright. The group learns together, prays together, and supports one another through all that comes with life and the journey with Jesus.

On Friday mornings at 7 AM, the Men's Fellowship Group meets for coffee, breakfast and good discipleship and fellowship at the Church. This group is also open to all, and they are currently in the midst of a video study on the Book of Revelation.

Both of these groups are wonderful contexts for getting connected at Holy Trinity - knowing and being known in ways that add richness and joy to the lives of all who participate.

If you are interested in participating, just show up! If you have questions about either group, please reach out to the church office.

SUNDAY TECH SUPPORT

We are still interested in finding a few more people to help with tech support on Sunday mornings. If you've got an ear for a good music mix with live musicians and singers, or if you're comfortable on the computer with Zoom and Powerpoint, we'd love to have you join our tech team. Sundays just don't happen; they are supported by an amazing group of men and women behind the scenes who make sure worship can see seen and heard both in the Sanctuary and remotely. If you are interested, please reach out to the Church Office.

Second Sunday Stories - Jim Strub

There are few in our Holy Trinity family who can tell a story the way Jim Strub can. And who can keep up with his puns?!

We are blessed and delighted to have Jim as our inaugural guest for the kickoff of Second Sunday Stories between the two services on October 10. Aptly named, we will be hosting, on the second Sunday of each month, a time of story-telling by the amazing individuals we are blessed to call our Brothers and Sisters in Christ, here at Holy Trinity.

And be prepared: these aren't just any stories. No, these will be stories about the journey with Jesus our friends have experienced and about the richness of life that Jesus offers and promises through hard times and challenges, victories and discoveries.

Second Sunday Stories will be moderated by Pastor Chris Stroup, and depending on how many seats we need, we'll meet either in the Adult Classroom or in the Sanctuary on Sunday morning from about 9:55 to 10:40. Don't miss this!

If you have questions, or if you'd like to be a story-teller for a future Second Sunday Stories, please reach out to Pastor Chris.

GATHERING DATA FOR "HELPING HANDS" MINISTRY AT HTAC

Are you a plumber, electrician, a carpenter or a heating/air conditioning technician? Do you offer music lessons, know how to organize a garden or fix a car? Are you a welder or a bookkeeper? Are you good with a chainsaw, or have access to rototiller or a backhoe?

If you have a skill or a service or a tool that you would be willing to make available to your Holy Trinity family, please reach out to Marty Schulte, who is compiling a catalogue of Holy Trinity resources. Once we have the basic pieces of the catalogue put together, our intention is to make it available through our CCB environment, so individuals can look there first when they need a service or some assistance.

To submit your catalogue information or with questions, you can reach Marty by email at martinvschulte@gmail.com. You can also send your information or questions to the Church Office.

CITYSERVE 2021 - AN AMAZING SUCCESS

From the people at COSILOVEYOU: "Wow, what an amazing day! Thank you to the 3,000+ volunteers that showed up to serve Colorado Springs on CityServe Day! Together, we made hundreds of cards for friends in long-term care facilities, cleaned up parks, completed nursery makeovers, pulled weeds, painted playgrounds, served our schools and prayed for our city. We have done important work for Colorado Springs today!"

Deacon Mark and Christy, his wife, were part of an Anglican presence among 50 volunteers who worked in two shifts on Saturday at Prairie Hills Elementary School. We cleaned and raked and helped to remove dead and dying landscape plantings that had been in place for nearly 30 years. The improvements around the school building were dramatic!

The volunteer crew was guided by two of the kindergarten teachers from the school. Their praise and appreciation for the hard work of the volunteers, and their recognition that most of the volunteers were from churches in the Colorado Springs area really put an exclamation mark on our recent conversations (and sermons) at Holy Trinity about being influencers in our community.

If you volunteered this past Saturday at one of the many, many projects for CityServe, thank you!! If you missed out on the 2021 event, you can be sure that it will happen again in October 2022. Keep it on your calendar, and don't miss out! It is an amazing blessing.

NEWCOMERS LUNCH - POSTPONED

The Newcomers Lunch, originally scheduled for this coming Sunday, October 10, has been postponed to the end of the month. If you are new to Holy Trinity and would like to schedule some time with Senior Pastor Matt in the meantime, please reach out to the Church Office, and we'll make the necessary arrangements.

HEALING JOURNEY 2021

Healing Journey is an event sponsored and organized by our Diocese, the Anglican Diocese of the Rocky Mountains.

Healing Journey is about creating space and inviting Jesus to bring life, healing and restoration into our lives. Wherever you may be on your journey with Jesus, whatever work He may be doing in your life, Healing Journey is an invitation to pause and take notice of what He's doing, to "Come and see," as Jesus says.

Our own Pastor Al and Jo Janssen attended Healing Journey in 2019 and had this to say: “I wanted to let you know that it (Healing Journey) was perhaps the best retreat I have experienced in nearly 50 years of ministry. God used it powerfully in our lives.”

Speakers at this year's event will include Bishop Ken Ross, Fr. Nick Hamilton, Lisa Elmers, Deacon Cindy Hamilton, and Dr. Douglas Groothuis.

Healing Journey will be held on November 5 & 6 at Wellspring Church in Englewood, Colorado. Several people from Holy Trinity are already signed up to attend, and some of our clergy will be prayer ministers at the event. We strongly encourage you to make a way to experience this amazing opportunity.

You can find more information at http://rockymountainanglican.org/healingjourney/.

OUR NURSERY NEEDS YOU!

We're still seeking nursery volunteers to serve one time per month for the second Sunday service.

This is a simple yet profound way to serve the "least of these" (with regards to stature at least ;) in our parish. . .just a couple of hours on one Sunday morning a month.

It's easy duty, really! The nursery cares for our littlest ones, between 6 months and 4 years old. A typical Sunday sees 1 to 3 children in the nursery. We've put together some accessible prayer, song, and Bible reading activities, so you don't have to figure out what to do to keep the children entertained. Or, you can just be present and available for our youngest members in the Body.

Please contact Pastor Matt Traylor if you are willing to serve or if you have questions. He'll guide you through next steps to get you in the rotation.

Holy Trinity Life Groups

Here's a final breakdown of our Life Groups at Holy Trinity: We have nearly 50 family units signed up for Life Groups! That's an amazing number - more than double what we've had in the past. The groups and meeting times are as follows:

Sunday

  • Janssen Group

  • Summers Group (every other week)

Tuesday

  • Moon Group (every other week)

  • Eastman Group (every other week)

Wednesday

  • Burnett Group (every other week)

Thursday

  • Langenfeld Group

  • Pollard Group

Friday

  • Stroup Group

  • Summers/McMillan Group (every other week)

To be determined

  • Traylor Group (still forming and deciding on meeting schedule)

In addition to these groups, we also have the Thursday morning Ladies Bible Study and the Friday morning Men's Group, both of which meet at the Church weekly.

There are still available spaces in some of the Life Groups, if you are interested in joining. It's not too late! In addition, we are always open to creating more groups if the need arises.

These small groups are such an important and dynamic context for joyfully being on mission with God and with one another (being "influencers), and they contribute in unique ways to our formation as followers of Jesus. Don't miss out!

For more information on small group opportunities at Holy Trinity, please reach out to the Church Office or to Pastor Chris Stroup.

CITYSERVE 2021 IS HERE!!

CityServe 2021, a city-wide service day for making a boots-on-the-ground difference in our neighborhoods, happens this Saturday, October 2, all across our city and the Pikes Peak region.

As Pastor Matt said on Sunday, this is the lowest of low-hanging fruit, if you're looking for a way to serve in our community. Most of the service opportunities require just 3 hours - either 9-12 in the morning or 1-4 in the afternoon.

You can sign up for any of dozens of projects at the CityServe website:

https://volunteer.cosiloveyou.com/communityservice

If you want to serve with some familiar faces, Deacon Mark and Christy, his wife, will be working the afternoon shift (1-4 PM) at Prairie Hills Elementary School. Here's the link to that particular project, which still has 8 openings, as of this writing.

PRAIRIE HILLS ELEMENTARY

The opportunity to be an influencer in our community calls. Truly, this Saturday through CityServe is a tailor-made space for each of us "to joyfully be on mission with God and with one another." Please join your church family and share some of the love of Jesus in our community.

If you have questions or need further information, please contact the Church Office.

GATHERING DATA FOR "HELPING HANDS" MINISTRY AT HTAC

"And all who believed were together and had all things in common." (Acts 2:44) "

. . .and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common." (Acts 4:32)

One of the most impactful ways we can care for one another within the Body of Christ is to share our knowledge and expertise. We can imagine that the people of the early church shared not only their food and their money, as described in the Book of Acts, but also the skills and competencies they had developed over the years: carpentry, masonry, gardening, cooking, bookkeeping, scribing.

Following the Acts model of having all things in common, we are compiling a catalogue of Holy Trinity skills and areas of expertise that individuals would be willing to share - either for free or at a discounted cost - with others from our Holy Trinity community.

Are you a plumber, electrician, a carpenter or a heating/air conditioning technician? Do you offer music lessons, know how to organize a garden or fix a car? Are you a welder or a bookkeeper? Are you good with a chainsaw, or have access to rototiller or a backhoe?

The possibilities are endless.

If you have a skill or a service or a tool that you would be willing to make available to your Holy Trinity family, please reach out to Marty Schulte, who is compiling our catalogue of Holy Trinity resources. Once we have the basic pieces of the catalogue put together, our intention is to make it available through our CCB environment, so individuals can look there first when they need a service or some assistance.

CITY SERVE 2021 IS COMING!!

What is CITY SERVE? A city-wide service day for making a boots-on-the-ground difference in our neighborhoods

When is CITY SERVE? Saturday, October 2. Most service opportunities are for just 3 hours - either 9-12 in the morning or 1-4 in the afternoon.

How do I sign up? It's super easy! All of the projects are grouped by area of the City. How many people are needed for each project and a link to sign up are posted on the City Serve webpage at this address:

https://volunteer.cosiloveyou.com/communityservice

We've been talking a lot about being "Influencers" in the spaces and places where we work and live. The City Serve 2021 projects are a perfect opportunity for each of us to be an influencer for God's Kingdom and bless members of our community with the love of Jesus in very concrete ways. Painting classrooms. Yard work at schools. Helping at food banks. Neighborhood park cleanups. Making cards for nursing home patients.

City Serve 2021 includes nearly 100 distinct work projects throughout El Paso County with at least 2 work shifts for most of the projects and work slots for nearly 5000 volunteers. Let's respond to the challenge and make a difference on October 2!

Deacon Mark and Christy, his wife, will be working the afternoon shift (1-4 PM) at Prairie Hills Elementary School. Want to join us?? Here's the link to that particular project, which still has 13 openings, as of this writing.

PRAIRIE HILLS ELEMENTARY

Wouldn't it be awesome to have a big Holy Trinity presence among the volunteers on October 2? The opportunity calls. Please join your church family and help make a difference in our community.

By the way, there is also a City-wide worship event on the Friday evening before the Saturday work day. Pastor Matt will be one of the clergy involved in the worship event. The worship will be held at two locations - First Pres and Discovery Church - beginning at 6:30 PM on October 1.

If you have questions or need further information, please contact the Church Office.

A Few Additional Items of Note

He will touches on foundational principles and wisdom that he has won both from success and failure in his own artistic endeavors.

Healing Journey

What is the healing journey?

You have probably noticed that Healing is a Journey. Like most things in life the journey IS the destination. What is Jesus teaching us along the way?

Some of the work Jesus does in us is deliberately slow and then there is a bend in the road and a vista opens up and there He is: healing us, restoring us, forgiving, encouraging, loving us in the most profound and often unexpected way. The love poured out is so profound and fills us with such joy that we want to hang on to it, remember it, be grateful for it.

That is what we are praying for you, that the Healing Journey will be a vista for you, wherever you are in your journey in life of being loved and shaped by Jesus. At the Healing Journey, we pray with the Psalmist when he instructs us to ‘Seek the Lord’… and know that He will ‘answer us and deliver us from all our fears’, all of our troubles….because ‘when the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles’ (a slightly paraphrased Psalm 34:4, 17).

We don’t know what the Lord will have for you, but we are praying with you for whatever the work is he will do in your life at the Healing Journey 2021. We invite you, as Jesus does, to ‘Come and See.’

The Healing Journey will be held on November 5 & 6, 2021 at Wellspring Church in Englewood, Colorado. It is an event supported by our Diocese.

OTHER IMPORTANT NEWS!

Here are several important news snippets you won't want to miss:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Church Membership Class on September 26!
We are hosting a church membership class on Sunday, September 26 from 1-3 PM. The Membership Class reviews the theology and history of Holy Trinity and of Anglicanism in general. This is a comprehensive class on our collective and foundational beliefs, and it offers a look into what membership at HTAC is all about.

This is an excellent class for learning more about HTAC and is highly recommended for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of our church. It is also a required experience for those wanting to become members of HTAC and qualify for voting in the annual meeting in January. If you would like to attend this class, please sign up at this ONLINE FORM, or contact the Church Office.

Altar Guild Volunteers Needed!
We still need Altar Guild volunteers. Several of our members have had to bow out for a variety of reasons, and we'd love to see some additions to this very important part of our service support team. If you have questions about what it means to be a part of the Altar Guild, or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Debbie Eastman or reach out to the Church Office at office@holytrinityanglicanchurch.org.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE KIDS?!

In a word: LOTS!

Gosh, there's so much excitement, enthusiasm and energy in our Children and Youth Ministry areas at Holy Trinity. Over the past few weeks, in preparation for the launch of all our new kids' initiatives, a lot of wonderful, talented people have been buzzing around the church building getting things organized and cleaned and primed for September 12.

And what a team!

It's not just about clean and pretty rooms. An amazing team of smart, caring, energized people has come together not only to get the spaces ready, but also to pull together a plan for care and catechesis of our children. With Pastor Matt Traylor on point, Helen Horn has poured much effort into getting the nursery ready, while Laura Laurie and Lara Stata have focused on classrooms and curriculum. Our kids' team still needs more volunteers, but we've got a great core group that's generating important momentum for the launch on Sunday.

Our Children and Youth Ministry Offerings

Here are the specific offerings we will have for our Children and Youth ministries as we kick off the Fall season:

Nursery: The nursery will be open and staffed (God willing) for both services on Sunday morning: 8:30 and 10:45. The nursery is suitable for children from 6 months to 3 years of age. It opens at 15 minutes before each service and closes at 10 minutes after each service. You can find more detailed information about this ministry in our Nursery Guidelines brochure (available in the nursery).

Children's Catechesis (Teaching): We will be offering one class, taught at two different times, on Sunday mornings for children ages 4 to 10. The first class time for children will be from 9:55 to 10:35 AM (between the two Sunday services) in the Children's Classroom. The second class time will be during the second service, from about 11:05 to 11:45. Children will be dismissed for their class before the sermon and can be picked up by their parents during the Passing of the Peace.

The classes will be coordinated primarily by Laura Laurie, using a curriculum called "Youth Children & Worship." She will be supported by a team of "storytellers" and "shepherds", including some of our older children who are interested in helping out. (We'll let your kids tell you about the storytellers and shepherds.)

In addition to the Sunday activities, Pastor Matt Traylor will also be developing and gathering resources that can be sent home with our families to support and reinforce the importance and practice of family prayer and ongoing learning in the home. More details will be coming on those resources for our families at home.

Middle School Youth Groups: The movement and energy is not limited to our elementary and younger crowd. Our middle school boys are continuing their adventures under the inspired leadership of Kevin Brooks. The MS Boys are meeting now on Wednesday evenings at the Church, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Kevin continues to challenge these young men with lessons and activities that build their character while encouraging them to enjoy and appreciate the glories of God that are always present in our world.

The middle school girls are not currently meeting; in fact, we're still reaching out to determine whether we have a group that would be interested in meeting. If your family includes a middle school girl who might be interested in a fellowship group context, please reach out to Pastor Matt Traylor.

High School Youth Group: Finally, our High School Group continues to build and grow and amaze their adult companion, Pastor Matt Burnett. These young men and women are, believe it or not, working their way through C.S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters"! The group meets on Sundays, after the second service, in the Fellowship Hall at the Church. Based on the stories shared regularly by Pastor Matt about the insight and spiritual maturity of this group, we have much to look forward to in this next generation of leaders in our Church and our community.

A Few Additional Items of Note

The Imagination Redeemed Conference - Anselm Society

There are just a few tickets left for the Anselm Society's annual conference, Imagination Redeemed, Sept 24-25 at Glen Eyrie. All the details can be found on the Anselm Website at www.imaginationredeemed.com/2021.

Tickets will most likely be sold out soon, so don't delay!

The Narnian Catechism

We have a truly unique experience coming to Holy Trinity, beginning on September 29: The Narnian Catechism with Pastor Matt.

The Catechism is a biblical, sound and historically grounded way to understand who God is, who we are, and our relationship to Him. We learn and grow, seeking to experience personally our God and His love. The classic Anglican Catechism and accompanying Scripture include study of The Apostles Creed (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), our Baptismal Promises, the Sacraments, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord’s Prayer. To unpack the content, we lean into the writings of learned theologians, such as J.I. Packer, N.T. Wright, Thomas Oden and Gerald Bray.

To enliven the material to touch our hearts more deeply, we use the Chronicles of Narnia (and various other writings of C.S. Lewis), which track amazingly well with each element of the Catechism and help open our imaginations to love God even more deeply. The Catechism will offer context and content to grow closer in relationship with God and with each other. It is traditionally the Anglican preparation for Confirmation.

More information will be coming on this opportunity. If you have questions or wish to sign up, please contact the Church Office.

THE SERVICE & PICNIC AT THE PARK

Don't forget that we will have a joint service with IAC on Sunday, followed by a picnic with all the usual picnicky acoutrements. The service begins at 10 AM at Bear Creek Regional Park, Pavilions 1, 2 and 3. Please join us!!

ARTS & CRAFTS SUPPLIES

Several of our outstanding Children's Ministry volunteers (and our intrepid Pastor Matt Traylor) spend most of the morning today doing some major housecleaning in our nursery, in our children's classroom, and in our "KidMin" storage cabinets. They've set aside a TON of arts and crafts supplies that need a good home (or homes). These materials would be excellent resources for a school classroom, a homeschool program or just a family group that loves to do arts and crafts. Please come by the Church and take what you can use from the pile in the Fellowship Hall (see photo above).

NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE BEGINS ON SEPTEMBER 12

And another of the many reminders: we start a new Sunday schedule on September 12. Our early service will begin at 8:30 AM. The second service will begin at 10:45 AM. Between services, we'll have an Adult Fellowship Time and Family Discipleship Time for the kids. Please joint us!!

IT’S TIME TO JOIN A LIFE GROUP

Two core elements of Adult and Family Discipleship at Holy Trinity are our Sunday morning services and our Life Groups.

We believe that discipleship happens in community. The Church gathered for worship is certainly one essential community context for our growth and formation as followers of Jesus. Just as important, however, as our Sunday worship time is the time we invest in connection with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

One of the best ways to make those connections is through a Life Group. Life groups offer an intimate context, where we can do life together with others in our Church family and can be known in deeper ways that enhance our love of God and our love of others.

The relationships we build in Life Groups promote self-awareness, integrity and accountability. In addition, as an active component of our walk of discipleship, our Life Groups are intentionally designed to deepen our knowledge of God, to strengthen our embrace of God's call on our lives, and to realize the joy, the peace, and the freedom Jesus desires and promises for each of us.

Now, honestly, could anyone reasonably say "No" to such an offering??

We are putting together life groups NOW. We have room in nearly all of our 8 or 9 planned groups, and if demand exceeds the current supply of seats, we'll form others. The groups offer a variety of meeting options, meeting locations, group demographics, life stages. . .really, there's something for everyone! Please prayerfully consider trying out one of our groups. You will not regret it.

If you are interested, please fill out an online form AT THIS LINK to sign up for a group. Or, if that's not your cup of tea, just call or email the Church Office.

Thursday Spotlight: 26 August 2021

2 SERVICE SUNDAYS - IMPORTANT DETAILS

On September 12, we are returning to 2-service Sundays! There are a number of important pieces that need to be in place for our new schedule to work. Please give this email some attention, as many of these details will affect everyone who attends on Sunday.

THE NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE

  • 8:30 to 9:45 AM - "Classic" Anglican Service

  • 9:45 to 10:40 AM - Adult Fellowship Time (with food) in the Fellowship Hall

  • 9:55 to 10:35 AM - Children's Discipleship Classes

  • 10:45 AM to Noon - "Modern" Anglican Service

FELLOWSHIP FOOD

  • We are all going to "share the load" in the provision of food for the Adult Fellowship Time between services.

  • 5 families will be selected each week from our list of active attenders and members to bring a light, continental-style breakfast food or snack (bagels, pastries, muffins, fruit, donuts, etc.) to be shared during the fellowship hour.

  • If everyone participates, each of us will need to bring food for the fellowship hour only once every 15 weeks or so.

  • If you are selected for a particular week and can't provide food, we ask that you make arrangements to trade with someone else for that week. Please let the Church Office know if you cannot bring food.

  • The folks bringing food for Sunday will also assist with setup of the food and with cleanup afterwards.

  • All leftovers will be taken home, either by someone in the church or by the person who brought the items. We don't want leftovers in the Church refrigerator.

SERVICE VOLUNTEERS

Many of us are involved in the Sunday services as readers, tech support, Chalice Bearers, and the like. With two services in place, we will do our best to assign your volunteer activities to the service you prefer to attend - first or second. In order to accommodate this, please email the Church Office with your preferred service, so we can put your volunteer assignments on the appropriate service.

ACOLYTES

As part of our new service schedule, we would like to re-engage our Acolyte Ministry. If you are interested in serving as an Acolyte, please reach out to the Church Office. We will provide training for anyone interested in joining the Acolyte Team.

NURSERY

Our intention is to offer nursery care for infants and children up to 3 years of age during both services and during the Adult Fellowship Time. In order to make that happen, we need volunteers. Each Sunday will require at least 4 workers to fully staff the nursery during the two morning shifts (8:15-10:15 and 10:15-12:15). For each month, we'll have at least 16 shifts to fill.

If you know anyone who might be interested helping in the nursery, or might be interested in filling a paid nursery position, please ask them to contact the Church Office.

As always, if you have questions, please reach out to the Church Office.
