Missions & Outreach Giving - Q1 2024

The Missions & Outreach Financial Team has completed the first quarter distribution of $18,487 in donations to support missionaries and ministries, both locally and internationally. The map above shows stars on the ministry locations we are impacting through our gifts.

Approximately half of the funds distributed are going to local and domestic ministries, and half are going to international missionaries and missions organizations.

On the international front, 46% of the funds will be going to direct Gospel-sharing ministries working in India, Thailand, Myanmar, Rwanda, Iraq and Guatemala. 16% will go to organizations that are delivering direct care services to the needy in Nigeria and Tanzania. The remaining 38% is going for the care and support of missionaries and ministry workers in Europe, South America, and Lebanon.

On the domestic front, we continue to provide support to our ministry partners in the Colorado Springs region, including Tri Lakes Cares, Mercy's Gate, Life Network, Anselm Society, Redeemed Seasons, and ThreeSixty. In addition, we are supporting outreach and care ministries in Denver, Canon City, and El Paso, Texas. The range of services supported through our dollars include basic safety net services, like food and rent assistance, prison ministry, pregnancy care, gospel ministry to Jewish communities, spiritual direction, and missionary care.

If you have questions or would like more detailed information about our financial outreach efforts, please seek out Deacon Mark.

Please also watch for more information coming soon on a number of boots-on-the-ground outreach opportunities that are developing for the late Spring and Summer seasons.

Pentecost Is Coming! Readers needed!

Pentecost is just a few weeks away, and we are planning a very special service on Pentecost Sunday, which falls this year on May 19.

First, we will have a baptism for young Wesley Thigpen. Woo Hoo!!

Second, we will enjoy our Holy Trinity tradition of reading the Pentecost story in multiple languages. This is a powerful experience -- hearing voices in as many different languages as we can gather, proclaiming the arrival and manifestation of the Holy Spirit through the speaking "in other tongues" as described in Acts, Chapter 2.

If you read and speak a non-English language, we would love to have your help with the Pentecost reading. Last year, we had 7 different languages. This year, we'd love to have more. Please reach out to Deacon Mark if you are interested in participating.

CONFIRMATIONS - 2024

Dear Holy Trinity Family,

This Sunday from 10.00a to 10.30a, will be a non-committal, "come and see" class, for youth and adults, about Confirmation and Confirmation preparation. I'd love to see (1) anyone who is baptized but not had an opportunity to publicly confirm their faith, and (2) anyone, adult or youth, who may desire to remember the essentials of our shared Faith and seek prayer by our bishop for God's increased work of His Holy Spirit (sometimes called "lay ordination").

We will cover how we step into the river of historic faith by ...

  • Confirming our Faith in God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; especially if baptized as an infant and not had an opportunity for a public confession.

  • Confirm God The Holy Spirit's continued filling of us and God's "yes" for us in terms of call and vocation.

  • Enacted by Bp. Ken's laying on of hands (think Acts).

  • Prepared for by simple self-examination and discernment and touching on the historic pillars of knowing and enacting our faith: The Apostle's Creed, The Decalogue, The Lord's Prayer as they have been used since Augustine to the Reformers to Tim Keller to Anglican Church in North America to Holy Trinity.

  • Also, prepared for by a day retreat that will do a deep(er) dive on what we do and why as Anglicans and at Holy Trinity, esp. regarding the sacraments.

I hope to see all who may be interested!

in Christ,

matt

We will "wrap" the prayer time with a short Evening Prayer liturgy and will leave plenty of room for prayers of intercession for the world and our country, for our community and region, for the church, and for our family and friends.

ACNA Justice and Mercy Ministry - Matthew 25 Initiative

As followers of Christ, we are called to serve the needs of the poor, the vulnerable, and the marginalized in our midst.  Many churches carry the value of engaging this type of ministry organically, but could benefit from support in developing focused ministries in this area.
On March 5 at 6:30-8pm MST (via Zoom) the Diocese of the Rocky Mountains invites you to join a webinar with the Matthew 25 Initiative for an evening of learning about the ACNA's tools and resources for establishing Justice and Mercy Ministry.

This event will help you explore how the Matthew 25 Initiative can support your church in following Christ's call to serve the vulnerable in your local community.  You'll also hear real-life examples of how churches in our diocese have engaged these tools to build Justice and Mercy ministries, and have the opportunity to explore how your church can access support from the ACNA in this work.

Speakers include:

  • Ken Ross, Bishop of Diocese of the Rocky Mountains

  • Mike Sandgren, DRM Justice and Mercy

  • Christine Warner, Executive Director of Matthew 25 Initiative

  • Matt Lindell, Director of Operations of Matthew 25 Initiative

  • Nicole Hunter, Discipleship Director of Trinity Church, Wenatchee, WA
