HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE
Wednesday: Stations of the Cross
April 13 @ 6:30 PM
Stations of the Cross, also known as The Way of the Cross, is a service where we travel with Jesus on his journey from sentencing, to his crucifixion, to his burial. There are fourteen "stations," moments in that journey where we pause to pray and reflect.
Thursday: Maundy Thursday Service
April 14 @ 6:30 PM
Maundy Thursday is the night where we celebrate the Last Supper. This is the evening leading up to Jesus's arrest in the Garden. We come together for communion, and we wash each other's feet, following the example of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples.
Thursday to Friday: Overnight Prayer Vigil
April 14 @ 8 PM to April 15 @ 8 AM
Following the Maundy Thursday evening service, we will hold a Prayer Vigil, our response to Jesus asking his disciples to watch and pray with him in the garden. There are 12 hour-long slots through the night. You may sign up for one or more times. Typically, our pray-ers pray from home, but if you would prefer to pray in our Sanctuary during your time slot, let us know, and we'll assist you with the arrangements. The goal is to have continual prayer from the end of the Maundy Thursday service to the morning of Good Friday.
Friday: Last Words of Christ
April 15 @ Noon to 3 PM
Beginning at noon, we will have a three-hour service featuring short reflections on each of the last seven sayings of Jesus before his death on the cross. Each saying will also be accompanied by a hymn and a period of reflection. You are welcome to come to any portion of this service or stay for its entirety.
Friday: Good Friday Evening Services
April 15 @ 4:30 and 6:30 PM
Our Good Friday Evening service, held in conjunction with our friends at Cathedral Rock Church, recalls the moments of Christ’s death and burial. The last part of the service is a modified Tenebrae service. As we move through the Gospel narrative, we extinguish candles one at a time until the altar is dark.
