Thank You for Your Support for the Walk for Life!

Dear Church, Thank you so much for supporting the Walk for Life - whether you walked, sponsored, or prayed. Look at what we accomplished together:

  • $4,000 raised,

  • 25 walkers (including children) at Memorial Park or in neighborhoods,

  • 22 sponsor donations (individuals, couples, or families),

  • countless prayers.

We are making a huge difference in our community!

Life Network works in Colorado Springs to support and protect the value of life. Walk for Life helps Life Network to continue offering these free services: pregnancy tests, pregnancy options counseling, STD testing and treatment, ultrasounds, baby clothing and furnishings, parenting education, childbirth and infant care classes, emergency baby supplies, maternity clothing, post-abortion recovery groups, education on sexual integrity and risk-avoidance, suicide prevention & awareness education for students. ($50 helps one mother and baby!) This year, Life Network surpassed their goal and can offer more than expected!

Thank you again,

Priscilla

An Update on Missions and Outreach

Our own Treasurer, Ross Eastman, will be sharing a few words on Sunday about his experiences as a volunteer at Springs Rescue Mission in Colorado Springs.

Holy Trinity has been a financial supporter of Springs Rescue Mission for many years, as part of our Local Missions & Outreach ministries. Every quarter, Holy Trinity distributes 10% of the tithe funds received by the Church to ministries in the local area and abroad. We support organizations like Tri Lakes Cares, Mercy's Gate, Life Network, Greater Europe Missions, Christ Church Jerusalem, and Springs Rescue Mission.

But the funds we provide are only a part of the picture.

Our brothers and sisters also invest time and energy into these organizations, coming alongside to provide labor, expertise and encouragement. Whether it's Ryan Paradis leading the Giving Tree program every Christmas for Tri Lakes Cares, or Ashley Carlson coordinating the Operation Christmas Child effort, or Andrea Wilcox setting up the Compassion Sunday displays, or Priscilla Stata spearheading the Walk for Life, or Ross helping out at Springs Rescue Mission - those who get personally involved in the work of these ministries learn quickly that blessings abound when we give of our selves.

If you are interested in connecting with any of the ministry organizations we support, please contact the Church Office for more information.

TWO IMPORTANT PIECES OF MUSIC NEWS!

First, we are hosting a 4-day music camp for kids, grades 1 to 5, on July 26 through July 29 at Holy Trinity.

Our own Terri Moon will be teaming up with Nate Voelker, the Music Director at Sunrise United Methodist Church and Director of Soli Deo Gloria Community Choir, to create a special week of musical adventures.

The kids will have fun musical activities: learning skills in rhythm, melody, and note reading; playing on bells, and singing. They'll also get to enjoy a short live performance each day by a local musician.

The children will finish the week, ready to sing a worship song during the service at Holy Trinity on Sunday, August 1. We’ll repeat the same camp at Sunrise United Methodist during August 2 - 5, and will sing the same song at Sunrise United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 8. Children are welcome to come to one week or both, if they like!

Parents, please sign your children up for spots at the camp as soon as possible. There is no cost for the camp. You can register your children at THIS LINK on the Holy Trinity CCB website.

You can also register by emailing or calling the Church Office.

Second, we are re-launching the Holy Trinity choir, now that COVID restrictions have been lifted.

Terri Moon is actively recruiting "singers for the band" (aka choir members) and is putting together an amazing plan for building momentum for the choir over the next few months. If you are interested in joining the choir (or even just talking about joining the choir), please reach out to Terri Moon.

Stay tuned on Sunday, when Terri will be making a special announcement at the Sunday Service regarding both of these musical opportunities.

A Couple of Additional Reminders!

We are hosting a memorial service for Pat Krekorian, who passed away on January 10, 2021. The service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1 PM at Holy Trinity.

We are honoring and celebrating Roy and Eleanor Parnell at a special reception after Church on Sunday, June 27. Please join us in saying "Thank You!" to Roy and Eleanor for all the years they served brunch to the congregation in our hospitality time between services.

Trinity Sunrise Music Camp:

July 26-29 We have a fabulous musical opportunity for kids, grades 1 to 5!!

Our own Terri Moon will be teaming up with Nate Voelker, the Music Director at Sunrise United Methodist Church and Director of Soli Deo Gloria Community Choir, to create a special week of musical adventures for children in grades 1-5. The Trinity Sunrise Music Camp will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on July 26 - 29 (Monday through Thursday) from 9:00 - 11:30 AM each day.

We’ll have fun musical activities to learn skills in rhythm, melody, note reading, playing on bells and singing. In addition, each day we'll be listening to a short live performance by a local musician. At the end of the week, we will have become a “choir” that will sing a worship song during the service at Holy Trinity on Sunday, August 1.

We’ll repeat the same camp at Sunrise United Methodist during August 2 - 5, and will sing the same song at Sunrise United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 8. Children are welcome to come to one week or both, if they like!

In order to gauge the level of interest and plan accordingly, we are asking parents to sign their children up for spots at the camp as soon as possible. You can register your children for the camp at THIS LINK on the Holy Trinity CCB website. You can also register by emailing or calling the Church Office.

Who DOESN'T need a little bit of mid-week fellowship?!

Bring some light and some depth to your days-between-Sundays in one of our weekly Bible study and fellowship groups.

The Women's Bible Study Group meets on Thursday mornings at the Church from 9 to 10:30 AM. Newcomers are welcome at any time. Pat Krekorian Memorial Service

We are hosting a memorial service for Pat Krekorian, who passed away on January 10, 2021. The service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1 PM at Holy Trinity.

Pat and her husband, Ed, were long-time members of Holy Trinity. The Krekorian family would be honored to have the Holy Trinity family attend the service. Pat's daughter, Nancy, writes, "She loved this church and the people who make it special."

If you need more information about the service, please contact the Church Office at 719-505-8021.

JOINT SERVICE/PICNIC WITH IAC AT BEAR CREEK PARK

We have begun planning for a joint Sunday service and picnic with International Anglican Church (IAC) to be held on Sunday, September 5 at the Bear Creek Pavilions at Bear Creek Regional Park.

This event will be a big kick-off for our joint church planting network and effort. We'll have a combined service, followed by a picnic. Our Church Plant Apprentice, Eric Chesney, and his family will be present for the event.

We need a volunteer to take the lead with planning and coordinating Holy Trinity's contributions to and participation in this event. IAC has assigned a point person from their end; we need one from our end.

If you are willing to serve as the HTAC Coordinator for this great get-together, please contact Mark in the Church Office at 719-505-8021 or email him at office@holytrinityanglicanchurch.org.

Special Celebration on June 27

We are holding a special "Thank You" celebration for Roy and Eleanor Parnell after Church on Sunday, June 27.

We want to recognize them and thank them for all the years they blessed our Church Family with food and hospitality between services on Sunday mornings. We'll have cake and punch and lots of love and hugs for our beloved Roy and Eleanor. Please join us.

If you would like to help with the putting together of this event, please contact Debbie Eastman or reach out to the Church Office.

YARD CLEANUP DAY

Please join us on Saturday morning, June 12, at 9 AM at the Church for a short work party to trim bushes and pull weeds and rake pine needs and otherwise spruce up the grounds around the Church building.

We'll have plenty of food to snack on and beverages to drink. Many hands will make light work of the tasks we need to finish on Saturday. We're not expecting the work to take more than an hour or two. . .we want to finish before it gets too hot.

If you have questions or need any additional information about our plans for Saturday, please reach out to the Church Office by phone (719-505-8021) or by email (office@holytrinityanglicanchurch.org).

COMPASSION SUNDAY - JUNE 20

We are celebrating and presenting Compassion Sunday next week, on June 20.

This is a big deal - recognizing the amazing work that Compassion International does, opening our hearts to the needs of children around the world, and encouraging one another to participate in the ministry of love and hope and care that Compassion offers.

Be sure to join us on Sunday, June 20, at our regular worship time to hear more about Compassion Sunday and to join us in celebrating and supporting this ministry.

If you have questions, please contact the Church Office or reach out to our Compassion Sunday coordinator, Andrea Wilcox.

Free Child's Car Seat

We have a child's car seat that has been generously donated to the Church. It is available to a family who needs one. The seat is Cosco brand, and it's designed for a small child, less than 40 inches tall and 40 pounds in weight.

If you are interested and could use this seat for one of your children (or grandchildren), please contact the Church Office by phone (719-505-8021) or email (office@holytrinityanglicachurch.org).

Sunday @ 11:30 AM: Planning and coordination meeting in the Fellowship Hall for the restart of Friday Evening Services in the Fall (see details below)

We're Building a Team for Fridays in the Fall!

Come join us at 11:30 AM on Sunday, June 13, for an informational and organizational meeting regarding the weekly Friday Evening Communion service scheduled to return in the Fall.

The test run of 6 Friday evening services in April and May was well received and well attended. We are very excited at the prospect of restarting this new weekly service in September!

We have identified several important elements that must be in place for the new service to be sustainable over more than just a couple of months:

  • We need a couple of volunteers for the music team to sing and play instruments.

  • We need a group of volunteers willing to serve on the tech desk (sound and slides), on the Altar Guild (service setup and cleanup), and as readers of Scripture and other parts of the liturgy.

  • Ideally, we need volunteers who can staff the nursery, so we can adequately support families with small children.

The meeting on Sunday, the 13th, will offer an opportunity to talk about these needs, to explore options and suggestions for meeting these needs, and to answer questions about the current plans for the Friday services.

If you are interested in attending the coming Friday services, or if you are willing to be a part of the team that will support the services, please plan to come to the Sunday meeting. We anticipate the conversation will take less than an hour.

If you have questions in the meantime, please reach out to Pastor Chris or to the Church Office.

HOLY TRINITY NURSERY

As we move closer and closer to a return to normalcy at Holy Trinity, we are thinking actively about what has gone away and what needs to come back. Near the top of our list of things that we want to resume is the Sunday morning nursery for our families.

Our plan and intention is to offer nursery care for our little ones on Sunday mornings, beginning in the Fall. For the summer, the nursery room is always available to families, but it will not have dedicated staffing.

Finding the Right Persons

Before we can re-open the nursery, we need people to staff it. At an absolute minimum, every Sunday we need at least 2 adults, or 1 adult and 1 teen, who can work in the nursery and care for the children during the 90 minutes of the Sunday Communion service. We'd love to be able to offer nursery services for the 45 minutes of Adult Discipleship, as well.

Ideally, we'd like to have at least 8 individuals who are on the roster for the nursery. This would enable us to keep most of the nursery volunteers working just one Sunday per month. We are considering the possibility of hiring an individual to be one of the assigned Sunday workers, but that is still in the works.

Interested in Helping?

If you would be willing to help in the nursery, or if you would like to be considered for a part-time paid position in the nursery (if we go that direction), please reach out to the Church Office by phone (719-505-8021) or by email (office@holytrinityanglicanchurch.org).

A Message from Pastor Matt:

Dear Holy Trinity Family,

I am happy to update us on an Anglican pastor moving to Gleneagle!

Pastor Matt Traylor. Matt, his wife, Kati, and his children Faith (3), Riley (1) and Baby Girl (due Sept) are moving to Gleneagle on 3 June, where Kati’s parents live.

Matt was ordained to the Presbyterate, or Pastorate, just this last Pentecost Sunday. He has been a deacon at a church plant in Buffalo, NY the last 3 years. In fact, Kevin and Leslie McMillan worshipped at the Buffalo church where Matt served. They speak very highly of Matt, as do others we have encountered who know them! Before seminary, Matt and Kati taught at an English school in Turkey.

Matt and family are arriving this week. If you are available to help unload boxes from their moving truck this coming Thursday, 3 June, at 10 AM, please respond to Mark or Pastor Chris in the Church Office. If you have benefitted from this kind of assistance in the past, then this might be a good time to help pay it forward.

Matt will begin as a Family Pastor Candidate for the month of June. During that time, he will meet with Staff and Clergy and the LT, so he can know us better and vice versa. When I return from vacation, he and I will process his time as Candidate with an eye towards having him come on staff at 10 hours per week.

Also, Matt is looking for part-time work. If you have any leads at all, please also respond to Mark or Pastor Chris. I say Mark and Pastor Chris, because Matt will report to Chris.

This is very exciting. The summer is going to be full with church leadership looking hard at church life as we come out of the Covid twilight and into a brighter future. That future will be additionally energized with new faces and voices like Matt’s and our with-IAC-Church-Planter, Eric Chesney, bringing God’s presence to bear in and amongst us and for the sake of God and His Creation, our neighbors.

In Christ.

matt

SPRING YARD CLEANUP

The winter has taken its toll!

Pine needles are covering the back patio. Shrubs are overgrowing the paths. Weeds are taking over the planting beds. Everything needs to be trimmed. And the wind has blown trash into every corner. We need a spring cleaning.

Saturday, June 12 @ 9 AM

We're planning a work party to get our property and the areas around the building exterior spruced up for the summer. Bring your yard tools, your work gloves, your smiling face, and your boundless energy on Saturday, June 12, and help us tackle this needed work. We'll have coffee and tea and some snacks for those who come out. Bring the kids! With a good turnout, we predict the work will be done in under two hours.

A Gas Hedge Trimmer

One of the more challenging tasks will be trimming the hedges around the building. It's easy work with a gas hedge trimmer, because we don't have to deal with power cords or outlets. If you have a gas trimmer, bring it, along with yourself, to the work party. If you can't make it but are willing to let us use your gas trimmer, please contact Dick Battersby to make arrangements.

RSVP. Questions?

Please RSVP by email to the Church Office (office@holytrinityanglicachurch.org), so we know how many we need to feed. If you have questions, please reach out to the Church Office.

TWO ADDITIONAL REMINDERS ABOUT DISCIPLESHIP CLASSES:

  • Family Discipleship and Youth Discipleship WILL meet this Sunday, May 30. The Family class meets at 9 AM, and the Youth class meets at 11:30 AM.

  • Both classes - Family and Youth - will NOT meet during June, while we develop plans for the remainder of the summer and the fall.

FINAL REMINDER: WALK FOR LIFE

This is our final Thursday reminder that the Walk for Life is happening next Saturday, June 5! Please support this important ministry: through walking or running in the event, through financial support and/or through prayer support. More information is available on the website at walkforlife.com.

Weekly Update: 25-30 May 2021

THE ESSENTIALS:

  • Adult Discipleship: Chris Stroup's Sunday discipleship class on Prayer will not meet this Sunday, May 30. The class will resume on Sunday, June 6.

  • Youth Discipleship: The Youth Discipleship Class on Sunday mornings (11:30 AM) will not meet during June. We will provide more information on its restart and direction as we get further into the summer.

  • Church Grounds Spring Cleaning: We are planning a spring cleanup "party" for the Church grounds for Saturday, June 12 at 9 AM. Bring your work gloves, your yard tools (clippers, rakes, etc.) and your selves for a morning of service and fellowship. The coffee will be hot. We'll have some good treats to eat. And we'll have plenty of good work to do. If anyone has a gas-powered hedge trimmer, please reach out to Dick Battersby; we'd like to borrow the trimmer.

Thursday Spotlight: 20 May 2021

So what happened to the Friday Service?

It's coming back! But we're taking the summer off.

Our intention from the beginning was to run a 6-week experiment to test the Friday evening concept and to see how much interest there would be in the service. It was clearly a success, and we will reconvene on a regular basis in the fall.

In the meantime, TEAM BUILDING!

Our plan for the summer is to build a community (a team) that can support the Friday evening service on an ongoing basis, once we add it permanently to the schedule.

As you know, putting together and running a weekly service has a lot of moving parts. We need Altar guild-ers, worship musicians, technical folks for sound and slides, Scripture readers, and pray-ers. Each service requires, in addition to the clergy, 5-7 volunteers PLUS the musicians/singers on the worship team.

We can't ask a handful of individuals to take on multiple roles and support the service by themselves every week. No, we need a community of people who are dedicated and committed to the Friday evening service. Our hope is to gather enough people for our Friday evening team that we need to ask each individual to serve only 1 Friday a month.

To that end, we will be working through a series of short meetings over the summer to build the team/community to support the Friday service.

A First Gathering. . .

We will have our first planning/organizing meeting for the Friday evening service on Sunday, June 13 immediately following the regular service - at 11:30 AM. If you are interested in having a voice in the formation of the permanent Friday evening service or are interested in being a part of the community that will bring this new service to the Holy Trinity family, please join us for this kickoff gathering. We'll provide lunch for everyone, so please RSVP by email to the Church Office (office@holytrinityanglicachurch.org).

Questions?

If you have questions, please reach out to Pastor Chris or to Deacon Mark in the Church Office.

Weekly Update: 18-23 May 2021

THE ESSENTIALS:

Our plan is to start them up again in the Fall as a regular worship fixture at Holy Trinity. In the meantime, we'll have a couple of meetings/services over the Summer to pull together a team to support the Friday evening services and to plan the Fall launch.

  • Adult Discipleship Class: Pastor Chris is leading a powerful class on prayer, based on the book, "Where Prayer Becomes Real". See details below.

THE ALTAR GUILD NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!

One of the most rewarding gifts a person can give to his or her church family is to serve on the Altar Guild.

Our Anglican worship is centered on God's Word and on Christ's Table. Every one of our Friday evening and Sunday morning services culminates with the Eucharist, that shared meal where we, with the help of the Holy Spirit, meet Jesus in a uniquely intimate way in community with our brothers and sister in Christ.

Our Altar Guild plays an essential role in helping to make that happen.

Every Friday and every Sunday, dedicated men and women from the Altar Guild set up the Sanctuary and the Table (Altar) for our services. The work is not difficult. It does not take a great deal of time. It is not stressful. But it is essential.

Would you consider joining our team of men and women on the Altar Guild?

Our numbers are quite diminished in this season. Several regular volunteers are out of commission or are needing a break from the Guild activities. We'd love to see some new faces and some family groups join us in this rewarding and necessary work.

We will give you plenty of training and guidance, as you come aboard. There are good written materials and guides to help you know and remember what goes where. Our processes and systems are well-developed. We just need more volunteers.

If you would be interested in joining our team, please call or email the church office with your name and number, and we will reach out to you with more information. Thank You!!!

A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR MATT

Dear Holy Trinity Community,

A quick word on our new seating protocols.

In short the county guidelines allow for up to 100 people, still fully masked, but not distanced. We are responding as we have tried to do for over a year now to honor the requests and restrictions of our state, county and city governments.

Some of us, perhaps especially our fully vaccinated folks, are perhaps cheering this opening especially as it helps remedy the very real difficulty of quarantine protocols. I feel the same way!

Others of us, recognizing that we are by no means out of the woods just yet, want to continue a more restricted personal protocol, e.g., keep spacing as is, as much as they are able. I feel the same way!

As a result, a few things to please consider. Let’s keep our #1 priority #1. I am sure that everyone will come with a perseveringly humble attitude of community care, as well as caring for our own health and wellbeing. So, like before, if you are symptomatic please join in over Zoom.

If you are not fully vaccinated, please consider some level of spacing between you and others, e.g. vaccinated or not when you come to worship on Sunday pay attention to others and maybe assume that a chair between family groups is still a good idea. I will have an open seat next to me until 2 weeks after 28 April when I receive my second dose.

If you come and you are hoping for an open seat between you or your family group and others, you may arrive and find that is not feasible. Just be ready for that.

For anyone feeling the need or desire for some distance, we are going to have “overflow” seating in the Annex/Extension and in the Adult Classroom, with both locations showing the service in real time on their large TV displays.

In short let’s celebrate good next steps and keep watching out for one another until we are well and truly over this thing.

Finally, the Friday night service is going well and has good spacing available!

Many thanks for your care and respect for one another. It is so important.

God’s Peace,

matt

THE ESSENTIALS:

  • New COVID Precautions for Sunday Services: In light of recent changes published by the Department of Public Health regarding recommended best practices for large gatherings, we have increased the number of available seats in the Sanctuary for Sunday services. We are very excited that we can now seat 100 individuals on Sundays. Please see the details below.

  • Bishop Ken and Confirmations: Bishop Ken Ross will be visiting Holy Trinity and preaching the Sunday sermon this week, April 25. We're planning confirmations for this Sunday, as well. See the details below.

THE DETAILS:

NEW COVID PRECAUTIONS FOR SUNDAYS: We are very excited that the new best practices recommendations published by the Department of Public Health regarding COVID precautions for large gatherings are going to support nearly doubling our onsite attendance on Sunday mornings. We look forward to the day when all precautions can be left behind, but in the meantime, we thank God that we can now open up our Sanctuary to 100 attendees! Masks are still required, and for now, we ask that children remain with their family groups in the Sanctuary for Sunday services. We will no longer need to maintain distancing between those seated in the Sanctuary, and we won't need a seating chart. Awesome! We will, however, continue our process of taking reservations for Sunday, using the online reservation form at THIS LINK, to assure we stay below the 100-person limit.

Confirmations and Bishop Ken: We will be hosting our Bishop, Ken Ross, on Sunday, April 25 for our 10 AM service. The service will include confirmations by the Bishop, and he will deliver the Sunday sermon. If you don't have seats for Sunday, please make your reservation. Or you can watch the entire service online through our Zoom link.

Rwandan Language Book: Are you interested in the Rwandan language? We have in our Church library a book written by James Rumford and donated by his niece, our own Karen Pfeifer, that is an introduction to the national language of Rwanda. This is an exercise book that "will lead you step by small step to speaking the language." If you are interested, please contact the Church Office.

Adult Discipleship - Contentment in Chaos

Our Adult Discipleship Class is going to journey through Paul's letter to the Church in Philippi, as Jonathon Thigpen leads us on a 4-week conversation about contentment in chaos.

Contentment is hard to come by in our culture of stress and immediacy, and sometimes communion with God can feel lost in the noise. In Paul's letter to Philippians, he shares his secret to rejoicing in the Lord in the midst of challenging circumstances. Together we will discuss the epistle and the powerful ramifications of the joy of the Lord coming to bear in our daily lives.

The Adult Discipleship class meets on Sunday mornings from 9 AM to 9:45AM in the TCT Classroom. We also invite online interaction through Zoom for those who cannot attend in person.

You can find the link to the online Zoom class on the Zoom links page of the HTAC website at THIS LINK.
